Weekly reminders: Sept. 15-19 & Immunization information reminders
Good afternoon École Sage Creek Bonavista families!
We have a few important updates and reminders for families:
1. Attendance Communication
If your child will be absent, please email bonavista.office@lrsd.net.
Include your child’s first and last name along with the reason for the absence.
Clear communication helps us ensure the safety of all students.
2. Arriving Late to School
If your child arrives after the morning entry bell, please walk them into the school using the main entrance (at the front of the school by the large red gathering circle).
You may park in the loop at that time, as all other doors will be locked including south east doors near the bus loop. The front doors will remain open.
Please sign your child in at the office. Staff will make sure your child gets to class—parents are asked not to accompany children directly to their classroom.
3. Serpentine Loop (Front of School)
Thank you to everyone for following staff directions—we’ve already seen a big improvement in circulation since the first days of school.
At dismissal, especially during the first 10 minutes, please move your car all the way to the front of the loop, in front of the red gathering circle.
This keeps traffic moving smoothly and prevents backups onto Warde ave.
When making pick-up plans with your children (or grandparents and other family members), please remind them they may need to look for their ride further down the line rather than in an exact spot along the serpentine loop (ex. “I’ll pick you up in front of the garbage bins”)
4. Parking on Cinnamon Teal
You may park on the side of the street closest to the sidewalk near the bus loop.
Please note that the opposite side is a No Stopping zone. Respecting this ensures our buses can come and go safely and efficiently.
Adults in yellow vests will be outside to help with parking and traffic flow.
5. Bicycles at School
We are seeing many students riding bikes to school which is wonderful!
Please make sure your child’s bike is secured with a strong lock. Coil locks can be cut very quickly; we suggest using U-locks or similar stronger options.
6. Fire Evacuation Drills
You may have heard our intercom and alarms this past week as we worked through some technical adjustments.
We have now completed three evacuation drills, and students are exiting the building quickly and safely. Thank you for your patience as we continue to refine these processes.
7. Phone Number Correction
Please note there was an error in earlier communication. The correct phone number for the school is: 204-594-3555. We apologize for the earlier mistake and thank you for double-checking that you have the right contact information.
8. Immunization Reminder
Letters are attached with more information. Please review and follow up as required.
9. Community Open House
We are excited to invite you to our Community Open House on Wednesday, September 24, from 4:30–6:30 p.m.
This will be an informal opportunity for our school families and the wider community to explore our beautiful new spaces.
Please register using the following so we can plan for attendance.
10. Cross Country
Our grade 4-8 students have been already practicing cross country on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch. Races will take place on Tuesday, September 16th (Family Fun Run), Thursday, September 25th and Thursday, October 2nd.
Have a great weekend!
