Carla MacMillan Appointed Vice-Principal at Dakota Collegiate

On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, please join us in welcoming Carla MacMillan to her new appointment as Vice-Principal at Dakota Collegiate Institute (DCI), effective Aug. 1, 2025. The Board of Trustees confirmed her position at a Regular Board Meeting on May 6.

Carla brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role as Vice-Principal. Her career in education began in 1998 as a Physical Education teacher at Marymound, followed by an international appointment in Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme, where she served as an Assistant Language Teacher in Ina City from 2004 to 2006. She then moved to the United Kingdom, where she led the Physical Education department at Melrose School until 2010. 

Carla joined DCI in 2010 as a Student Services and Autism Spectrum Disorder Contact Teacher and has remained a dedicated member of the DCI community ever since. Over the years, she has taken on a variety of leadership roles, including Positive Behaviour Support Teacher, Department Head for Student Services, and Team Leader for Academic, Citizenship, and Engagement. Most recently, she has served as the Team Leader for Independence. 

Carla is widely respected for her professionalism and her deep commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all students. Throughout her career, she has consistently created warm, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments where every student feels seen, supported, and valued. Her approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a strong belief in the potential of every learner. Carla’s long-standing commitment to student success and inclusive education makes her a valued addition to the administrative team at DCI.
